Why Won't My Wolf Oven Door Close Flush?
The short answer
A door that sits proud at one corner is nearly always reporting on the hinges or on the opening behind it, not on the door itself. The seal follows whatever geometry it is given. Put a straightedge across the face before ordering anything, then ring Los Angeles Wolf Repair Pros on (310) 706-2347.
For the contractor
The most useful line in the Wolf guides here is a prohibition: do not clean the oven gasket, because rubbing or moving it can compromise the door seal. A gasket scrubbed back into position has been moved, and the leak that follows gets blamed on the hinge.
A straightedge laid across the closed face settles it in a minute: measure the gap at each corner, then open the door and check the opening itself. Wolf requires every corner of a flush-inset opening to be exactly ninety degrees for the reveal to stay even, and a carcass that has drifted will not let any door lie flat. Heat escaping along a top edge goes into the cabinet above, so the marking overhead says which corner to measure first.
Two questions that usually follow
Can the hinges be adjusted, or is it always a replacement?
Wolf's own position is that the hinges sit hidden inside the door, so in most cases the door has to come off before anybody can even look at them. There is no published owner adjustment. A technician judges wear on the arm and the spring together, because replacing one of the pair rarely leaves a door sitting level.
Mine is a contemporary M Series with no handle. Does that change things?
It does. That door is pressed shut rather than pulled, and Wolf's instruction is to rotate it upward and then press the upper middle section firmly. It has no partially open position at all: closed or fully open. If it rests short of closed, the fault is mechanical and not a matter of pressing harder.
